Discover the Oakwood at Ryther

A message from Ian and Janine…

The original site of Oakwood at Ryther has been our home since 1943 with our family having lived here for generations, farming both livestock and cereal crops.

As farmers we both enjoy seeing things grow and flourish, so in a sense we are continuing with that in our new direction, it's just that now we are able to cultivate any ideas couples may have and help those come to fruition in the form of a most memorable celebration of new beginnings.

As well as farmer's wife and mother of two boys, I have always been a dedicated gardener and designer and with the instinct for nurturing and eye for detail which that entails, I could see new potential for our beautiful location. So, about three years ago, with a common dream, we both set out to transform our huge grain store, various barns, courtyards and meadows, to create what we hope is the most stunning of venues with the flexibility, capacity and character to create lifelong memories. We look forward to meeting you.

More about the Oakwood at Ryther…

Set deep in the Vale of York, The Oakwood at Ryther is a stunning Yorkshire wedding venue offering exclusive use from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave us as newlyweds. Centred around a beautifully manicured courtyard, sits the Ceremony Hall, The Old Grain Store and The Oakwood Barn, sleeping up to 32 guests in 15 boutique ensuite bedrooms. The Oakwood is your home from home while you celebrate with us and offers peace, privacy and the perfect place to party!

The history of the site dates back all the way to the late 16th century when the surrounding land was used for tree felling. In 1823, the site was developed into a working farm with multiple barns being built around the main house. Since then, The Oakwood at Ryther has continued to be developed and now it stands as a beautiful barn conversion with luxury accommodation, all ready to host your big day.
